Last month a friend of mine, Stephan Weitberg, sent me a link to the current App Sumo deal which included a bunch of “developer apps” for the low low price of only $47. All of a sudden a chat box pops up asking me how its going! Like those people who have long responses when bums harass people for change, I decided to engage Nikola.

me: Build a geotargeted daily deals app that detects a user’s location with InfoChimps, and sends the deals to you via text message through Twilio and emails through SendGrid. Charge people monthly for the “premium deals” through Recurly. Use Linode as our app server and MongoHQ as our database. Set up a hot live backup on Heroku in case Linode or MongoHQ goes down. Hoptoad and New Relic will let us know if our server goes down or if there are any app errors. Finally, SauceLabs will make sure that suburban moms using IE5 will be able to get our deals. Get Angel VC within 3 months and all we would have paid to do all this is $47.00.
